Biography

I am a Teaching and Leadership academic in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. I am passionate about promoting data literacy, coding, and programming, and I am dedicated to creating transformative learning experiences that extend beyond traditional classroom settings. My goal is to equip students with practical skills that are relevant and applicable in real-world scenarios. Additionally, I actively practice computational reproducibility using R Markdown/Quarto and Git/GitHub.

  • ASA DataFest, a friendly and collaborative competition in which teams of two to five undergraduate students work together to attack a large, rich, and complex dataset over three days. An annual premier Student Experience event of the School, positioning Macquarie University as one of the two Australian universities hosting this esteemed global data analysis challenge alongside hundreds of universities worldwide.

  • You to the Power of Visualization (YOU)VIZ, a team-based sustainability data visualisation challenge that offers students a unique opportunity to gain practical experience on the end-to-end data science workflow and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). It serves as a platform for students to showcase their ability to address real-world challenges through analytical thinking, visualisation, and storytelling.
