Biography

Javier Álvarez-Mon holds degrees in ancient Near Eastern art and archaeology from the École du Louvre (Paris) and the University of California at Berkeley respectively. A 2003 Fulbright-Hays Fellow, he is presently Associate Professor in Near Eastern Archaeology and Art at Macquarie University (Australia) and 2014-18 Future Fellow (Australian Research Council). His primary research interests are the ancient Iranian civilizations of Elam and early Achaemenid Persia. Author of numerous publications on the art and culture of Elam, he is presently finalising a book The Art and Culture of Ancient Elam (c. 4200-525 BC).
