Personal profile


Julia van der Hoven completed her Bachelor of Science majoring in physiology and pharmacology at The University of Sydney in 2011. In 2012, she completed her Honours project on investigating the spreading of tau protein pathology under the supervision of Prof Lars Ittner. After working in community pharmacy, she rejoined the Ittner lab to begin her PhD in 2016. 

Research interests

Julia's PhD project is based on the role of the immune system in Alzheimer's disease. She is concurrently completing her Masters of Public Health at UNSW to diversify her research knowledge and skills to include epidemiological and population-based studies.
