Biography
Julia van der Hoven completed her Bachelor of Science majoring in physiology and pharmacology at The University of Sydney in 2011. In 2012, she completed her Honours project on investigating the spreading of tau protein pathology under the supervision of Prof Lars Ittner. After working in community pharmacy, she rejoined the Ittner lab to begin her PhD in 2016 and following it's completion in 2021 she continues her research with the Dementia Research Centre.
Research interests
Julia's PhD project was based on the role of the immune system in Alzheimer's disease and she continues to investigate this interest. During her PhD she concurrently completed her Masters of Public Health at UNSW to diversify her research knowledge and skills to include epidemiological and population-based studies.
