Biography

Dr Julie Boulis (MAPS, MCEDP, MCCOUNP, MCOP, PGDipProfPsych, MEd, Doctor of Education, EdD) is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Macquarie University. She is currently the main lecturer and convenor in the Master of Professional Psychology Postgraduate Program at Macquarie University. Julie is a registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. She completed her Doctor of Education degree at the University of Wollongong and her Professional Psychology degree at Macquarie University. 

Research interests

Julie specialises in the assessment of student engagement and connections as predictors of successful, learning outcomes.

Julie has recently developed a blended learning assessment program in the unit PSYP908 Working with Groups. Presently she is investigating the reliability of student performance using a blended learning environment to better engage students.

Julie is also interested in how to better support tertiary level translation and application of knowledge and discovery in differing learning contexts.

Anxiety disorders and Acceptance and commitment therapy.

Teaching

Julie currently convenes and teaches the following units in the Master of Professional Psychology Program:

1) PSYP901 Counselling and Professional Practice Semester 1 Year 5

2) PSYP903 Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Related Techniques Semester 1 Year 5

3) PSYP905 Additional Therapeutic Modalities (teaching half the workshops) Semester 1 Year 5

4) PSYP908 Working with Groups Semester 2 Year 5

Research student supervision

Julie supervises Provisionally registered students in the 6th year AHPRA registration program.

Community engagement

I am currently a member of the Department of Psychology Test Library Committee and Teaching and Learning Committee.
