Biography

I am an Earth scientist interested the composition and structure of the crust and upper mantle. My primary expertise is with the geophysical tool magnetotellurics, which we use to measure how electrically conductive the Earth is. Since Earth's interior is such a hidden puzzle, I also try to use as many other different types of data as I can, including seismic data, geochemical data, and experimental mineral physics data. I try to weave all these strands together to help answer questions like why plate tectonics occurs, where mineral deposits form and how fast the great ice sheets are melting.
