Personal profile


Ly is a PhD candidate and a Research Officer at Centre for Health Informatics. Her project looks at the development and evaluation of personalised digital interventions for behaviour change, under the supervision of Dr Liliana Laranjo, Professor Enrico Coiera and Dr Juan Quiroz. Her research is supported by the International Macquarie University Research Excellence scholarship. 

Ly has a background in Public Health & Health Informatics. In 2017, she completed a Master of Research in Health Informatics under the supervision of Dr Liliana Laranjo. Her thesis is composed of a systematic review and a mixed-methods experimental study looking at the efficacy and acceptability of a mobile social networking app for physical activity. In 2015, she graduated from Bachelor of Health Sciences at Macquarie University with Vice Chancellor’s Commendation for Academic Excellence. She has been awarded a number of prizes and travel grants for her academic and research performance from University of Göttingen (Germany), Macquarie University, CSIRO, University of Sydney Medical School, and Golden Key Society.

Ly has been a guest lecturer for Health Promotion (HLTH310, undergraduate class), Legal, Ethical and Policy Directions in Human Sciences (HLTH350, undergraduate class) and Public Health Informatics (HSYP817, postgraduate MPH class with Dr Liliana Laranjo), as well as a tutor for Epidemiology (STAT818/718/395, postgraduate & undergraduate classes). Two papers from her Master thesis have been used as coursework readings and assignment case for HTLH310 Health Promotion.

Community engagement

Ly is on the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI) committee for Early Career Researchers - High Degree Research Students (ECR - HDR), which organises a monthly lunch on different topics for ECRs/HDR students.
