Personal profile
Research interests
Associate Professor Mark Butlin heads the Blood Pressure and Arterial Function (BPAF) Laboratory. The BPAF Laboratory has a basic science approach to cardiovascular haemodynamics but achieving translational application. The laboratory has a strong biophysical sciences and engineering background. However, research is foremost grounded and informed by physiology. Research spans in-clinic and out-of-clinic aortic and peripheral blood pressure assessment, arterial waveform and stiffness quantification, autonomic dysfunction, and rodent models of vascular disease.
Please take a moment to look at the BPAF Laboratory team and research interests on the BPAF Laboratory website.
Research engagement
The BPAF Laboratory has or is currently collaborating with the following organisations:
Teaching
Assoc. Prof. Mark Butlin is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). He currently teaches across the Bachelor of Clinical Science, Masters of Research, and Medical Doctorate programs within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences. He is the unit convener for:
