Matthew Olckers is an applied microeconomist specialising in social networks, development economics, and household finance. His research uses a broad range of methods, including field experiments, machine learning, mechanism design, and qualitative analysis. Before joining e61, Matthew held research fellowships at UNSW Sydney and Monash University. He serves on the leadership of EAAMO, a global community of researchers working towards equity and access. Matthew received his PhD in economics from the Paris School of Economics and his undergraduate degree from the University of Cape Town.
