Biography
Dr Hamed Jafarzadeh is a senior lecturer in Business Analytics at the Department of Actuarial Studies and Business Analytics, Macquarie Business School. He holds a PhD in Information Systems from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia.
Hamed’s current research interests include business analytics (with focus on big data and social analytics), data-driven decision making, systems development (with focus on agile approaches), misinformation sharing on social media, and the role of behavioral traits in IT/IS adoption (e.g., IT mindfulness). He has secured research funds from variety of institutions including Tokyo Foundation (Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund – SYLFF), New Zealand Multi Agency Research Network, and Massey University.
Hamed is an accredited Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA) (awarded to university lecturers through observation and evaluation of their teaching practice according to the UK Professional Standards Framework - PSF). The focus of his teachings at Macquarie university is on business analytics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (BUSA3021, BUSA8031). He also has an extensive experience in teaching agile project management, database management, decision support systems, system analysis and design, and business process management (BPM) in New Zealand, Australia, and Iran.
In addition to his long-term experience in the academia, Hamed has an extensive professional experience in IT/IS industry in various positions (ranging from business analyst at younger ages, to IT project manager, IT consultant, BPM project manager, etc). It started with 7 years of professional experience before his PhD and followed by 5 years of project management experience in Australia (University of Queensland) which collectively informs his teaching and research in the University environment.
