Teaching and Leadership
Nandini is a passionate teaching and leadership professional whose teaching philosophy is based on driving excellence in student engagement and making learning fun. Her learning and classroom practice is based on replacing fear with fun and guiding students on a path of continuous self-directed learning.
Nandini started her teaching career with the City University of Hong Kong in the Division of Commerce, leaving a career in the industry as a professional Chartered Accountant. She started teaching Accounting pathway programs and Diploma programs and soon after completing her MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Strathclyde UK, she started teaching students enrolled with Napier University, UK, for an undergraduate Accounting degree. She has played a lead role in promoting the Division of Commerce's course offerings at American universities, initiating the development of new educational partnerships.
After moving to Australia, Nandini has been in a variety of tertiary teaching roles in Sydney. These roles have offered her the flexibility and variety to balance her work-life needs, teaching full-time and part-time students from different parts of the globe, in pathway, undergraduate, and post-graduate programs.
Nandini has, from the very beginning, been drawn to the world of leadership in pedagogy and teaching excellence, drawing excellent student feedback resulting in teaching excellence awards at City University, Hong Kong, and SIBT, Sydney besides similar VC student award nominations at Macquarie University in 2019 and 2020. Continuing her pursuit of the state of the art in professional practice and learning, after acquiring additional qualifications with CPA Australia and CA ANZ, she has completed her Fellowship from The Higher Education Academy, U.K.
Nandini's teaching style draws on her rich experience in Hong Kong and Australia and her background in professional accountancy and management studies, to meet the learning needs of a wide spectrum of students across diverse levels of academic programs and geographic boundaries and cultures. Her specialty has been addressing the learning needs of students interested in Management Accounting, which is her passion.
