Biography

Dr Rahel Cramer is an internationally experienced higher education professional and accomplished early career researcher with more than ten years’ experience in delivering timely and effective outcomes in graduate research management, research, teaching and administrative roles in Australia, Germany and Canada.

Dr Cramer joined the Macquarie University Graduate Research Academy as Global Programs Coordinator in 2021 after she held positions in graduate research scholarships and partnerships, and admissions at Macquarie University since 2017. In her role, she delivers the University’s global graduate research programs and strategic initiatives with international partner universities.

Dr Cramer is able to take on high levels of responsibility and contribute to high-quality outcomes and support for research candidates and supervisors while facilitating international collaboration. She has an extremely high-level multilingual capability in English and German and has an excellent understanding of the field of higher education management and administration.

In her research, Dr Cramer has focused on the intersection of cultural nationalism and economic globalization. She has used multimodal and discourse analysis to explore representations of national identity in the media, in marketing and in linguistic landscapes. Her most recent studies explore the tension between the ideology of monolingualism and multilingualism in the literary work of authors who identify as marginalised.
