Biography

Rajan Shankaran (Senior Member, IEEE) earned his M.B.A. (MIS) degree in information systems from the Maastricht School of Management, followed by the M.Sc. (Hons.) and Ph.D. degrees in network communications and security from the University of Western Sydney. Currently, he serves as the Course Director at the School of Computing, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, overseeing postgraduate programs in Networking and the Internet of Things. In addition to his role as Course Director, he is a faculty-nominated member of the University Academic Senate Curriculum Subcommittee, which is responsible for overseeing curriculum development and ensuring academic quality across programs. He also represents the School on the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) Faculty Board, which governs academic matters related to the functioning of the faculty.

Rajan is currently acting as the Chair of the IEEE VTS NSW Chapter, where he plays a crucial role in leading initiatives that promote knowledge sharing and collaboration within the field. His primary research interests include Network on Chip, Device-to-Device (D2D) communications, medical implant security, network security, and mobile computing. He has actively contributed to various computer networking and security conferences, serving as a program committee member for notable events such as WMNC 2017, Mobility 2017, and WCNC 2018. Additionally, he was instrumental in organizing IEEE/IFIP NOMS 2017 and CNSM 2017. Through these roles, Rajan not only enhances the visibility of IEEE but also fosters a vibrant community of professionals dedicated to advancing technology in networking and security
