Biography

Sagda is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science (CHRIS) at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation at Macquarie University. She has a wide range of qualitative and quantitative skills and a particular interest in applying complexity and systems sciences to tackle challenges in health services and systems. Her PhD examined the impact of telehealth in rural Australia in terms of unintended consequences using systems thinking tools such as system dynamics and system archetypes, a novel approach to evaluating telehealth that had never been applied to the study of telehealth until her work, with few studies conducted in healthcare and health services research more broadly. Sagda has contributed to various projects improving health services and the Australian health system, including evaluating and embedding virtual care in routine practice, improving care for people with mitochondrial diseases, and improving the quality of care at residential aged care facilities. She has published in high-impact journals, including the Medical Journal of Australia and Journal of Medical Internet Research, and regularly reviews for leading journals in health services and systems research. Her PhD research made the cover of the Medical Journal of Australia, a journal with a five-year impact factor of 8.2. She presented at international and national conferences and has been invited for talks internationally, including at the MGH Institute for Technology Assessment at Harvard Medical School (USA), University of Stavanger (Norway), and Mahidol University (Thailand). Sagda was awarded a competitive Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) for her PhD studies.
