Biography

Sally Potter is an ARC Future Fellow in the School of Natural Sciences and a Research Associate at the Australian Museum Research Institute. She is an evolutionary biologist whose research focuses on the role of genome reorganization in driving adaptation and speciation. She leverages genomic and structural variation to understand how biological organisms adapt and persist, integrating across genomics, cytogenetics and population genetics. She applies omic approaches to conservation, bridging the gap between conservation genomics and applied outcomes, with decades of collaborative research experience with diverse partner organisations. Her research group is exploring the role of functional evolution in relation to chromosome rearrangements with implications for conservation management of Australia’s fauna.
