Biography

Sean Foley is a Professor of Applied Finance at Macquarie University. His research interests straddle Fintech, Cryptocurrencies, Trading, Market Design and Regulation. Sean's research has been published in leading academic journals including the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance and the Journal of Financial Markets. 
 
Sean is currently actively researching the financial applications and utilisation of cryptocurrencies, including automated market makers, DeFi lending protocols and stable coins. He is the Head of Decentralized Assets within the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre, bridging industry, government and academia. 
 
Sean has served as the lead applicant in a Shareholder Class Action against Gunns Ltd, and has a keen interest and experience in the role of the continuous disclosure regime in ensuring the integrity of the Australian equity market.
