Silpa Chandrabhasi Sindhu is a PhD student at Macquarie University, focusing on the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in biomedical image analysis and health informatics. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering with First Class with Distinction from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and a Master’s degree in Signal Processing with a CGPA of 9.5 from APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, India.

Her passion for applying machine learning and deep learning to biomedical challenges began during her master’s thesis and evolved through more than five years of research experience as a Research Assistant at Kuwait University and Kuwait College of Science and Technology. She has worked on a wide range of AI-based projects, including automated diagnosis of COVID-19, lung cancer, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic foot ulcers, thyroid disorders, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, and fetal health. Beyond biomedical domains, her work also includes projects on viral genome prediction using natural language processing, Arabic handwritten character recognition, air quality prediction, and oil well production forecasting.

Her research has been published in leading international journals such as Expert Systems with Applications. She is supported by the Macquarie University iRTP and iMQRES scholarships for her doctoral research in intelligent systems for precision medicine and clinical decision support.
