Biography

Smriti joined the Macquarie University Centre for the Health Economy (MUCHE) in August 2023 as a Research Fellow. She gained a Master of Public Health from the University of Sheffield in 2010, after which she worked as a Systematic Reviewer at the University of Birmingham (UK) where she gained experience in undertaking systematic reviews in Health Technology Assessments (HTAs) for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) HTA programme. Later, she worked in India on cohort studies based on maternal and child health, until 2015. Afterwards, Smriti worked at UNSW and Macquarie University’s AIHI primarily involved in systematic reviewing and undertaking meta-analyses. Smriti obtained a Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of New South Wales in 2023. Her thesis looked at medicine use in pregnancy, utilising linked administrative healthcare datasets, primarily the pharmaceutical dispensing data, perinatal and hospital admissions data. Prior to joining MUCHE, she worked with the University of Sydney’s Clinical Trials Centre, as an analyst for HTAs submitted to Australian and Singaporean governments. In MUCHE, Smriti is working on HTA projects commissioned by the Australian Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC). Smriti has a specific interest in evidence synthesis techniques and analysing linked healthcare datasets.
