Biography

Sophia is an Associate Lecturer (Teaching and Leadership) of the Translation and Interpreting Program in the Department of Linguistics, the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences. She completed the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in interpreting studies at the University of New South Wales. The title of the thesis was 'Communication challenges for healthcare interpreters within a multicultural society: intercultural or ethical?'.
Her research interests are in healthcare interpreting, intercultural communication, and interpreter training.

She is also a professional translator, interpreter, and subtitler between English and Korean. She provides interpreting services both onsite and remotely (RSI).
