Biography

Talia Carl, BA-Psychology(Hons), PhD, is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre for Emotional Health, Macquarie University. Talia completed her PhD at Macquarie University in 2018 for which she was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Commendation.

Research interests

Talia's research focuses on understanding the influence of different internal and external factors on children's externalising (antisocial lie telling, conduct problems) and internalising behaviours (mental health). Her research aims to advance a comprehensive understanding of the development of these behaviours in children in order to facilitate the development and implementation of prevention and intervention programs. Moreover, Talia's current work at the Centre for Emotional Health Clinic involves coordinating a large-scale clinical trial which evaluates the efficacy of a modified treatment approach targeting and treating social anxiety in children and adolescents using two slightly different versions of the Cool Kids program. Talia's methodological approaches and knowledge includes experimental studies, large-scale longitudinal designs and randomized clinical trials which require the use of multiple statistical approaches (i.e. including SPSS, Mplus, Cross-lagged Panel designs).
