Personal profile

Research interests

Dr. Vivian Mendez is a behavioural biologist whose research with Queensland fruit fly (Q-fly) has explored pre-release supplements for Sterile Insect Technique programs, and developed novel control methods.  Past projects investigated the effects of colony domestication on sexual behaviour and reproductive development of Q-fly. Currently, she is studying the cuticular chemistry of Q-fly, and the cost and benefits of natural metabolic enhancers in fruit flies.
