Vu is a health outcomes researcher with a background in vision research and patient-reported outcomes. His work currently focuses on injury prevention, with active projects exploring hip fracture trajectories, paediatric injury and patient-centred outcomes following cataract surgery.

Trained as an orthoptist with a PhD in ophthalmic epidemiology, Vu is currently employed as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation. He is the course coordinator and lecturer for a core research subject in the Masters of Orthoptics course at the University of Technology. He currently holds an honorary research position at The George Institute for Global Health.
