Biography

Dr. Fiona (Zhijun) Zheng is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Macquarie School of Education. Her research expertise in early childhood language/literacy development, mutlilingual education and teaching Chinese as a first/second language has been well recognised by the media news such as the Lighthouse and the Sector https://thesector.com.au/2023/07/17/baby-talk-how-early-childhood-centres-can-help-multilingual-children/, and published in high-quality journals (Q1/Q2 ranking: e.g., International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, International journal of Educational Research, Infant Behavior and Development, and Lingua etc.). Fiona has over a decade of teaching and research exprience in language education across Australian and Hong Kong tertiary institutions. She has been a reviewer for academic journals such as Lingua, Early Childhood Research Quarterly and Acta Psychologica etc.

She is a founding member of the Centre for Research in Early Childhood Education (CRECE), Macquarie University; the Multilingualism Research Centre Management Committee member 2023; the Macquarie Early Career Researcher Showcase 2023 organising committee member.
