Elected to the Executive Committee 2018. 2015The GYA comprises 200 early to mid-career researchers (<40 years old when appointed) from nearly 60 countries and a wide range of disciplines who share a passion about the role of science in creating a better world. With its worldwide network and highly trained membership, the GYA has been called “the best bet on the global scientific leadership over the next 10 years”. Selection is highly competitive and based on scientific excellence and commitment to using science for societal good. In my role as an (EC) member, I will represent the GYA worldwide and engage, for example, with presidents of universities and science academies, government ministers as well as with funding bodies and foundations like the Global Research Council, the Wellcome Trust and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
