    The prize, awarded to the best philosophical piece(s) published by a professional philosopher in the popular media in Australasia, is offered to encourage and promote philosophical discussion in the popular media.

    The prize was awarded for the Podcast 'De-extinction Part 1 & Part 2. The two-part series featured on ABC Radio addresses the topic of de-extinction and drawing on their expertise in both philosophy and biology, explores the ethical, philosophical and scientific considerations of bringing species back from extinction.

    According to the official announcement, the podcast was selected because it exemplifies many of the qualities of excellent public philosophy. It helps generate public interest in philosophy; is clear and accessible; and puts philosophy squarely into the public eye.
