Project Details
Description
For many years, engineering fields (e.g. manufacturing, robotics, mechanical) have won the ‘competition’ over civil and construction engineering in digitising their products and technologies. This project aims at the cutting-edge technology of 3D printing using timber-based biocomposites. Further to a digitised approach to fabricate structures, this project will use recycled timber, which is vastly found in Australia as residue. The project will benefit from a product-driven approach and the outcomes will be 3D-printed beams and columns, structurally tested, and evaluated for future application in large-scale. The applicant’s strong research track-record on timber composites is expected to significantly support the project.
