A novel and versatile gene therapy for the treatment of both dementia and epilepsy.

Dementia and epilepsy are 2 common neurological disorders, for which there are no cures and current treatments only provide limited relief. We have developed a novel gene therapy that targets underlying mechanisms common to both disorders, resulting in significant clinical benefits when tested in several mouse models. With this project, we will optimise the therapy (specifically, we need to modify the gene vector) to ensure it meets current regulatory requirements, a crucial step for translation of this therapy into the clinic. After testing of the modified vector, we will then engage with industry for commercialisation of our therapy.
