This project aims to establish an Access to Justice Lab on Business and Human Rights (A2J Lab) at Macquarie University’s Law School in Sydney. The Lab will be an integral part of the Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) programme at Macquarie University. Several clinics and labs focusing on a range of social justice issues are already functioning as part of PACE projects at the Macquarie Law School. The A2J Lab will complement these existing projects and provide 10 law students annually an opportunity to collaborate with academics, civil society organisations (CSOs) and/or lawyers to assist the affected rights holders in securing access to justice in selected cases. The Lab should be seen as part of a wider push to strengthen corporate accountability for human rights abuses in Asia Pacific.
