Project Details

Description

This project aims to develop a stand-alone ammonia generation system directly from nitrate-rich wastewater, driving by tandem perovskite/Si photocathode with cocatalysts in a zero-gap photoelectrochemical electrolyser. The expected outcomes include engineering strategies for enhanced sunlight absorption, modifying the interface between dual-photoabsorbers and cocatalysts, zero-gap design to minimize resistance and high-efficiency surface catalytic reactions, ultimately leading to the scale-up of electrolyser prototypes. The project's benefits extend to advancing manufacturing techniques for large-scale ammonia electrolysers, promoting nitrogen cycle balance, and positioning Australia as a global leader in a sustainable economy.
