Description
The Commonwealth Department of Education has put the Australian National Fabrication Facility on notice to start preparing for a likely future round of OPEX support, for another 4 years, to commence at the termination of our current 4 year funding cycle. We have been advise that Department of Education is favouring a status quo funding model for the NCRIS capabilities for the period 1st July 2023 to 30th June 2027.
In line with a status quo position, taking our current annual OPEX value with a 4% CPI adjustment, we anticipate $496k pa funding from the NCRIS funding pool for the above 4 year period. ANFF expects co-funding of 25% for each $ of OPEX received. Hence we request MQ co-funding of $124k pa for the same period.
The OPEX support enables the ANFF - Optofab team to process a suite of fee-for-service jobs for internal and external clients. This results in approximately $200k in revenue per annum. That revenue is re-invested back into the facilities to cover OPEX shortfalls and purchase new capital equipment.
