Project Details

This project aims to investigate the creation, transmission and reception of value produced by artistic and cultural organisations, with particular reference to live theatre. It develops an innovative multidisciplinary approach to analysing how theatre companies create value for their audiences, for theatre practitioners, for theatre as an
artform, and for the broader Australian community. This project is unique in combining an in-depth assessment of economic and cultural value in the performing arts. With an empirical application to the Belvoir Street Theatre in Sydney, the project will produce outcomes that will directly benefit the theatre industry and policymakers in their task of demonstrating the value of public funding of the arts.
