Belief in a Post-Truth Era

In the wake of the 2016 American Presidential Election and the “Brexit” vote in Britain there has been increased concern about the growing abundance of misinformation and its influence. My project aims to identify who believes in misinformation, why they believe it, and how these beliefs can be challenged. The results of my project will contribute to the development of a science of misinformation that can be used to reverse humanity’s trajectory towards an increasingly “post truth” era.
