Bench autoclaves to maintain sterile conditions for biosecurity research

Project: Research

Autoclaves are essential equipment for contamination control in molecular biology and microbiology laboratories, as well as to maintain sterile conditions for general insect biosecurity research. The new building that has recently been constructed to support Macquarie's very successful and growing Insect Biosecurity research programs, to be occupied from October, currently lacks suitable autoclaves as these were excluded from project budget. Such capital items cannot be purchased on current grants and so funding is requested to procure this essential core equipment. Current supported projects total ~$34 m (all MQ HERDC), supporting 10 Research Fellows and 21 PhD students.
