Building Social Robotics Capacity Across Disciplines and Departments

Our team of researchers spanning 3 Faculty of Human Sciences departments seeks to build capacity at Macquarie University in the burgeoning domain of social robotics. Specifically, we wish to purchase 5 robots (3 humanoid and 2 animal-like) in order to conduct human-robot interaction research that allows us to address fundamental questions about human cognition, perception, as well as more applied questions regarding the potential to develop robotic-based educational and health interventions. The robots will complement and extend the existing VR based human-machine interaction technologies and mobile brain imaging resources available within and beyond the Faculty.
