Codesign for better care of Australian adults living with Mito: The Mito-Plan Project

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

We have clear evidence from the mito community that care from generalist health services can be inconsistent and difficult to access. In the 2022 Mito Community Survey, respondents with mito stated accessing health care for mito was either difficult or very difficult (62%), and that many had no access to advice on diet (64%) or exercise (48%). Findings from our previous Mito Grant (“Active implementation of Australian Consensus Guidelines”) found
similar frustrations and called for work in translating the Guidelines into generalist settings. This project will coproduce, pilot, and implement a general management plan template for adults with mito. Based on the Australian Care Standards, it will support people with mito to self-manage, navigate and access appropriate generalist healthcare. Generalist health
utilization data will be collected to inform strategies to scale up and develop resources. Our evidence-based Codesign methodology will establish an ongoing translational process for future projects.
