Project Details
Description
The purpose of this project is to document and understand community experiences of the 2022 floods in Victoria and South Australia. The project will follow on from the detailed and in-depth work undertaken in Queensland and New South Wales to capture community experiences of the January to July 2022 floods, and also from the current work being undertaken in Tasmania. A similar methodology involving in-depth interviews and a questionnaire will be employed. The sample for the questionnaire will be broadly representative of the sociodemographics and flood impacts experienced across SA and Vic. We anticipate a response rate of at least 500 questionnaire responses in each state. The in-depth interviews with community members and key stakeholder representatives (for example, SES staff and volunteers and other relevant personnel) will focus on distinct case studies in six locations across northern Vic and SA to explore:
→ specific issues around population responses in areas impacted with moderate and longer lead times (all community members)
→ the experiences of First Nations peoples
→ the experiences of those who are culturally and linguistically diverse.
