Description
My program has 2 strands connected by notions of blame and responsibility. 1. Legal and ethical issues arise when persons with dementia commit crimes, including fitness to be tried and punished. Drawing on the Australian Neurolaw Database project and in collaboration with Monash colleagues I will examine differing judicial responses to offenders with dementia and the moral capacities of persons with dementia. 2. Working with Monash philosophy colleagues and my co-author Jessica Wolfendale (Marquette) I will apply my work on identity, self-control and responsibility in marginalised groups to poverty. Outcomes include better understanding of vulnerable moral agency, punishment & blame practices, grant application, and publications
