    Description

Developing an efficient delivery system to transport therapeutic agents across the blood-brain-barrier (BBB) is an ingenious method to treat neurodegenerative diseases including motor neurone disease (MND). This project will design biomimetic platforms for transporting chemotherapeutics agent into the brain for MND treatment. Intelligent design of biomimetic cell membrane “coated” polymeric nanoparticles will avoid unfavourable immune activation and prolong the half-life for elimination of nanocarriers. Moreover, brain receptors and peptides will be employed as the “keys” or “targets” loaded into or on the surface of nanocarriers to further open BBB to allow superior penetration. This multifunctional platform provides a specific approach for MND treatment.
