This workshop aims to build a research team with capacities to generate theories of editing and cognition and to apply these to investigations of editing as a social and cultural practice across historical and contemporary media productions and collaborations. Its outcomes will be theories of editing and cognition that synthesise cross-disciplinary knowledge and provide insights into the creative processes and contributions of editors across many media forms. Social and economic benefits to creative practice and creative industries will arise from this enriched understanding of editing, collaboration and cognition that enhances the functioning of teams and the generation of creative media.
