Enhancing electrochemical recording techniques in the animal research facility

The requested infrastructure is to establish a sophisticated electrochemical recording technique to compliment current technologies routinely used in the animal research facility. Fast scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV) is specialised equipment that measures changes in brain chemicals within a target brain region. It will greatly enhance our capacity to understand brain changes following pharmacological, pharmacogenetic, or behavioural manipulations. As CI 2 has recently been trained in this technique whilst at Yale, USA, and this is an approach not currently available at Macquarie University, now is an opportune time to set up FSCV which will significantly enhance neuroscience research across three faculties.
