Description
Implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in health care services is challenging with an absence of best-practice guidance, resulting in unclear policy. This presents an urgent need to bring together stakeholders who have a vested interest in the opportunities represented by AI-enabled healthcare services, to establish a coherent, collaborative, and sustainable national approach supporting the implementation of AI in the Australian health system. Specifically, there is lack of guidance on the policy and practice strategies that are needed to see AI safely implemented in working health services.

This work will inform the development of a new National Roadmap for AI Implementation in Healthcare, as well as contributions to the research literature. More broadly it will directly influence implementation strategies within Australian Health Services, as well as state and federal policy that relates to AI safety, quality and ethics.
