Project Details
Description
Fossils and First Nations artefacts are frequently found in the Australian landscape by people who are not scientists, and knowing what to do with a find isn't common knowledge. The Found a Fossil project aims to provide clear and accessible information to Australians about what to do if they make a heritage discovery, including legislative requirements, handling guidelines, and resources for identification and reporting. This project is a catalyst for starting conversations about heritage objects and their protection, leading to interesting research, and community engagement activities at the intersection of palaeontology, archaeology, and science communication.
