Fratres Romani in Dalmatia: Community and Identity in the Roman Seventh Legion

This project conducts research on Roman military identities and the military community in Dalmatia during the 1st century CE by studying tombstones and other archaeological material held primarily in Croatian museums. The primary objective is to explore how military identities and communities were constructed, advertised and rejuvenated through the medium of funerary monuments and other archaeological material in the Roman world.
