Project Details
Description
On April 7 1998, security guards entered Patrick stevedoring terminals across the country and escorted the unionised workforce out the gates. With the backing of Prime Minister John Howard’s Coalition government, Patrick sacked and locked out 1400 waterside workers. A mass political, industrial and legal campaign followed, transfixing the nation and transforming Australia's industrial relations landscape. This project will develop the national history of this watershed dispute.
