Hypnosis, reasoning & beliefs: the use of hypnosis and Transcranial magnetic stimulation to facilitate or inhibit rational thought and belief bias.

The aim of this project is to integrate research across the disciplines of reasoning, memory and belief formation, combining concepts and methodologies. The study proposes to offer new tests of the Dual Process account of reasoning by manipulating the impact of Type 1 and Type 2 processes. It also aims to test the neural underpinnings of belief evaluation in search of ways to ameliorate biased thinking and improve logical thought.
