Description

The main proteins that accumulates inside motor neurons of people living with MND, undergo many different chemical alterations in disease. New evidence indicates that some of these alterations could protect nerves from degeneration, suggesting that this process is a potential therapeutic opportunity. Using a newly developed high-throughput protein-profiling technique, we will identify how these chemical changes to MND-related proteins occur, in human neurons and in genetically modified mice. This will provide a full profile of protein changes in MND pathology, and will identify new processes that could be targeted by new drugs to treat people living with MND.
