Project Details

Description

Home care workers or personal care workers provide in-home support to the elderly and people with disabilities. The nature of their work can pose a range of risks which must be anticipated and appropriately responded to in order to maintain the health and safety of both the carer (i.e., worker) and the client (i.e., patient). Whilst the risks posed to the client by way of their age or disability are often well understood, those risks to the carer are less so, especially in the in-home environment using digital platforms. The research will develop a better understanding of the WHS awareness of care workers and their experiences, the risks to workers and WHS gaps in the in-home aged and disability care sector, and the potential prevention strategies.
