Description
The ID4SEA Australia Award Fellowship program provides professional knowledge, skill and leadership development in furtherance of inclusive and equitable legal and digital identity in Southeast Asia (SEA), specifically Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia. States in the region have rapidly expanded and digitalised their identification management systems in recent years providing new opportunities for development and social protection. Yet not all people have benefitted equally from these opportunities, and some marginalised populations are at risk of being left behind. Hosted by Macquarie University (MQ) in collaboration with country-based partner organisations, ID4SEA seeks to build capacities and people-to-people networks between Australia and the region, as well as across the region with the goal of enabling key professionals from governmental and non-governmental organisations to identify and address exclusion and inequalities in their identification frameworks and practices. ID4SEA comprises 15 fellows (5 per above-mentioned country) and will be delivered in two phases: (1) two weeks in Australia, and (2) one workshop in each of the three participating SEA countries to consult and disseminate program outcomes. ID4SEA will lead to country-specific reform/action proposals and an alumni network that will benefit from ongoing mentoring through MQ experts.
