iViva: Enhancing Viva Assessments with Conversational AI

iViva is a proposed conversational AI agent designed to support Viva-style assessments across various disciplines and academic levels. Built as a standalone web application, it will generate personalised questions from student submissions to assist human markers in structured evaluations of learning. Students can also practice for vivas through text or voice dialogue, receiving immediate feedback on clarity, confidence, and conceptual understanding. The pilot will evaluate iViva’s grading accuracy and quality, with outputs double-checked and ultimately marked by humans. Features will be introduced gradually after rigorous testing and University approval, ensuring scalable, pedagogically sound viva assessments, while upholding academic integrity.
