Description
The Australian Mining Equipment, Technology and Services sector is a significant part of the Australian economy. Ore grade is a significant factor in mining operations in terms of profitability. However, the average grade of copper ore has decreased by around 25% within the last ten years, increasing resource requirements in metal refinement. Therefore, it would be profitable to identify the quality of the ore before they are being processed. This proposed project uses a Magnetic Resonance (MR) sensor controlled by a robotic crane system guided by a 3D laser scanning vision system to analyse the quality of the ore in a truckload. The project will develop a control system to guide the crane system (developed by a third party) and MR sensor by analysing 3D laser scan data. This analysis will determine the quality of the material.
