Multilingualism on the Berlin Stage: Language Use and Cultural Diversity in Contemporary Text-based Theatre

The program constitutes the first step in developing a new strand of my long-term project on contemporary Berlin theatre in intercultural contexts. A period of data collection and close reading will enable me to establish my publication profile in a field of emerging international research, through applying multilingualism as a research paradigm to my analysis of current theatre artistic and institutional practice. The data analysis will have an 'end-user'-focus, targeted at selected theatres and cultural institutions. My MLA conference presentation, collaboration with the Centre of Competence for Theatre (Leipzig University) and Potsdam University, will contribute to Macquarie University's internationalization strategies.
